Autism Friendly Family Activities at Market Hall Museum

Take part in our ‘Autism Friendly Family Activities’ at Market Hall Museum this summer.

The museum will be closed to the general public during the sessions and tickets are limited so please book in advance by clicking here. £2.50 is payable (on the day) for each child attending, siblings are welcome but must also be booked and paid for. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Treasure 20 – 14th August, 2pm – 4pm

Celebrating 20 years of the Treasure Act, help us celebrate ‘Treasure 20’ by hunting for the treasures of our collections within the museum and making some to take home with you.

Make versions of objects found in the ground by metal detectorists to take home; a paper dagger and cardboard Anglo Saxon brooch. These activities take part on the ground floor of the museum.

Have a go at our museum treasure trail and find the treasure objects on display in the museum. These objects can be found throughout the museum.

Gorgeous Georgians – 21st August, 2pm – 4pm

Dress up as a Georgian aristocrat, chat to one of our collections team about the costume in our galleries and have a go at making your own Georgian accessories.

Make a paper stomacher, a decorated triangular panel that filled in the front opening of a woman’s dress, and take it home. You can also make a paper tricorn hat to wear home too. These activities take part on the ground floor of the museum.

Chats with the collections team are informal and can last as long as you want, you can ask them as many questions about the museum as you like, whenever you want during the event. The collections team member and Georgian dressing up clothes will be on the first floor of the museum.
