Crossing Borders Project

Crossing Borders Project

An exciting 6 month arts project delivered by Heritage and Culture Warwickshire at the Benn Partnership Centre in Rugby is now being displayed at Market Hall Museum. Working with an artist and a team of museum staff, the Apna Ladies group took part in curator talks, object handling sessions, arts activity and oral history recordings to gather recent migration stories and showcase the rich heritage and cultural identities of Warwickshire communities.

A community exhibition was held at the Benn Partnership Centre earlier this year and now the artworks and documentation have moved back to the Museum in Warwick. Alongside individual clothing prints, ‘pocket’ casts, and donated objects, the showpiece is a group artwork of a migratory bird featuring embroidery, drawings, collaged photographs and maps that signifies all that unites the group with each other and their home in Warwickshire.

The exhibition will be on display in the ground floor Getting Here case throughout 2019.
