Heritage Education – Key Stage 1

Bring your class to St Johns House museum in Warwick to experience life as a Victorian or hire one of our Object Loans boxes to enhance your teaching in the classroom. All our workshops are delivered by experienced teaching staff and have been developed to support your teaching in the classroom.

Victorian workshops at St Johns House Museum. These interactive sessions will allow your school children to immerse themselves in a realistic experience of Victorian life. Attend a lesson in our real Victorian classroom, try on a top hat or get hands-on in our laundry with Charlotte the laundry-maid for memorable experiences that will bring history to life. Choose from a number of different sessions to build your own day visit.

Loans boxes. Our loans boxes have been designed to support your teaching in the classroom, bringing historic artefacts into the classroom. They are available for a 2 week loan, collection and return at St Johns House museum, Warwick. Use them to bring history to the hands of your students or as inspiration for art and design projects.
Topics range from Fossils to British Wildlife and Victorian childhood to the 1930s.

Toys and Games. This 1 hour workshop can be delivered at St Johns House museum or we can come to your classroom. A highly interactive workshop that allows the class to play with a wide range of toys, discovering what was different about toys in the past, how they worked and what they were made from.

Warwick the Bear and Friends: A Natural History Adventure An immersive storytelling and exploratory session lasting 2 hours and 15 minutes for Key Stage 1, based at Priory House Warwick and including a nature trail around nearby Priory Park.  Bring a packed lunch, if you like, and extend your day with an optional free teacher led trail of Market Hall Museum.
