On Saturday 5th July, a brand new celebratory outdoor arts event called ‘Nuneaton Lives’ will take place in Nuneaton Town Centre.
Supported by Heritage and Culture Warwickshire (HCW) and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council (NBBC), Nuneaton Lives promises a carnival atmosphere with a number of local community groups, dance schools, choirs, musicians and artists coming together to present a varied programmed of performances and arts activity inspired by Nuneaton’s rich cultural and industrial heritage.
To launch this year’s event, Nuneaton will receive a visit from Lady Godiva – a six metre high mechanical puppet, which was created by Imagineer Productions as part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. As part of her visit, Godiva will be seeking out the great stories and myths of Nuneaton, and celebrating the town and its heritage with local people and visitors. For 2014, Imagineer have also created a brand new free flying hummingbird puppet, which will accompany Godiva and her eight metre high horse to Nuneaton in July. This event ‘for local people by local people’, is shaping up to be one of the biggest events the Borough will see in 2014.
Following this 2014 event, it is the aim that Nuneaton Lives will become an annual celebration of dance, song, theatre, music and heritage.
