Museum in the Park

St Nicholas Park, Warwick – Tuesday 24th July 10am – 3pm

Find us in the park to get hands-on with some of our curious collections, excavate artefacts from ice and make a busy bee headband. FREE. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Miraculous Medicines

Market Hall Museum – Thursday 26th July 10pm – 3pm

Can a mouse clean your teeth or will dragon’s blood cure a stomach ache? Discover some of the weird and wonderful ways people in the past stayed clean and healthy with our fun family activities. Meet our medieval herb woman then play our kill or cure game to see if you can choose the right ingredients.  Take part in our museum quiz trail and quiz, download it here. £2.50 per child, no need to book just drop in. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

World War One Day

St John’s House – Saturday 28th July  10am – 5pm

Visit the Birmingham Pals Living History Association on the Front Lawn, take part in our Battlefield Medicine Workshops (suitable for families), join in with some family friendly craft activities and enjoy a garden performance of Local News 1915 by Tell Tale Theatre Company. Explore the Home Front stories our Warwickshire at War volunteers have uncovered in our exhibitions downstairs and discover the extraordinary stories of soldiers from the Royal Warwickshire Regiment upstairs.  Find out how to research your family military history at a talk with an expert from the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum. Craft activities  and battlefield medicine workshops run 10 am to 3 pm. ‘How to Research your Family Military History’ talk at 2 pm, ‘Local News 1918’ by Tell Tale Theatre Company at 2.30 pm.  Light refreshments available.  Booking on the day required for some events. A joint event by Heritage and Culture Warwickshire and the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers Museum, Warwick. FREE entry to both museums.

 

Behind the Scenes: Store Tour – Natural History Adventure

Museum Stores, Montague Road – Monday 30th July 10.30pm – 12noon

Go behind the scenes at the museum stores to see Warwickshire’s Jurassic past then make a piece of Jurassic history to take home.

Arty Tots: Under the Sea

Market Hall Museum – Tuesday 31st July 10pm – 3pm

Join us to make seahorses, jellyfish and other sea creatures to take home.

Suitable for ages 5 and under, older siblings welcome. . £2.50 per child, no need to book just drop in. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Make and Create

Market Hall Museum – Saturday 4th August 10am – 12noon

Drop into the museum to design a colourful foam or paper ice lolly – perfect for a hot summer’s day. £1 suggested donation.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

Creepy Crawlies and Bumbling Bees – Natural History Adventure

Market Hall Museum – Thursday 9th August 10am – 3pm

Be inspired by our insect fossils and working beehive to take part in our creepy-crawly family activities. Help the insects in your garden today by making a butterfly feeder and bug hotel. Make a bee puppet then join our beekeeper to hear more about the museum’s busiest residents. Terrific Tectonics – Natural History Adventure

Explore the changing shape of the Earth with our fun family activities. Fit the continents together to make Pangaea and see some of the ancient rocks from Warwickshire before trying our experiments to find out why magnets are so important to the world. What Did the Romans Do For Us?

Market Hall Museum – Thursday 23rd August 10am – 3pm

Try your hand as a Roman architect for the day. Design a mosaic and see if you can build a Roman arch that will stand for two thousand years. Then try on our Roman clothes and make a laurel leaf headdress to complete the look. Natural History Adventure

Meet at St John’s House – Thursday 30th August 10am – 4pm

Enjoy a day fossil hunting at Cross Hands Quarry with our Curator of Natural Sciences, Jon Radley, and explore our Jurassic past. You can keep anything you find! Meet at St John’s House, coach travel is included in the cost. Please bring a packed lunch.
