Useful information for Wellbeing

  • The First Museum gallery on the first floor can be used as a quiet and calmer space for neuro-diverse visitors who may need it. The door to the space can be closed.
  • On family event days the museum is quieter from 2pm. Check our What’s On pages for dates of events in the museum.

Please note that in the event of an emergency, access from the first floor galleries to the ground floor emergency exits will be restricted to the main staircase. If any of our visitors require assistance in the event of an emergency, we ask that you contact one of our members of staff upon arrival at the Museum.

Warwickshire County Record Office

There are a number of features to support access to the public areas of the building:

Useful information for Wellbeing

  • You can book a volunteer to show you how to use the County Record Office during normal opening hours. They will show you how to use the catalogues, order up documents, how the different document reading machines work and much more. For more information click here.
  • The Record Office staff have prepared a handy check list of things you will need to bring with you to access the Record Office and other useful information. Click here to see the list.
  • AccessAble has a detailed access guide, showing a graphical summary of the building’s access features.
  • There is a tea and lunch room space available to the public to eat lunch and have a drink. This space is separate to the Searchroom and has a door that can be closed.
  • In the reception area there are some comfortable chairs visitors can use next to the Priory Books shelving.

St Johns House

St Johns House Museum is closed to the public for general visits but is still available to school group through pre-booked visits. St Johns House Museum occupies the ground floor of the building, with the majority of the exhibition accessible on one level. The upper floor houses the Museum of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment of Fusiliers, which is only accessible via the original staircase – no lift is available.
