“…this horror was bounding like a tiger at his heels, with blazing eyes and one stringy arm out thrown.”
ACT 1: In Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story, ‘The Signalman’, we follow a railway signalman who keeps watch over a damp, and gloomy railway cutting. Upon questioning, he reveals that he has been haunted by spectral warnings of impending train disasters.
ACT 2: In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s ‘Lot No. 249’, we follow Abercrombie Smith, a student who investigates a series of supernatural occurrences linked to his neighbour, Edward Bellingham. Edward, an Oxford student, holds possession of an ancient Egyptian mummy which he appears to have been using to stalk his enemies.
