Donating to the collections

Found an unusual rock, fossil, piece of pottery or maybe a coin? The Market Hall Museum offers an identification service for your discoveries, whether they were found locally or further afield.

Please email museum@warwickshire.gov.uk with ‘Identification’ in the subject heading. Please attach photos, stating where the object was found, and when. It would also be useful to have an idea of its size, and what you think it might be.

Our curators can’t always identify objects from photos alone, so they might recommend other information sources or experts, or invite you to make an appointment to come to the museum with your item.

Please note that our curators’ identifications are opinions based on their experience. If they’re unsure about anything they will point you in the direction of other resources if needs be. Unfortunately, they can’t offer valuations.

If you are depositing an archaeological archive from a commercial excavation, please contact the Curator of Human History.
