Visiting the County Record Office
Christmas and January opening hours
There will be the following changes to our usual opening hours over Christmas this year:
- Wednesday 25 December 2024 - closed
- Thursday 26 December 2024 - closed
- Friday 27 December 2024 - closed
- Saturday 28 December 2024 - closed
- Wednesday 1 January 2025 - closed
In addition, the record office will be closed for 'Collections Week' while staff carry out essential tasks to improve access to our collections:
- Wednesday 22 January 2025 - closed
- Thursday 23rd January 2025 - closed
- Friday 24 January 2025 - closed

Making an Appointment
There is no need to make an appointment, however, slots are available to book through Eventbrite.
Please be advised that bookings can only be made to view original documents.
If you are unable to visit us in person, please refer to our Copying Services and Enquiries pages.
Registration
Warwickshire County Record Office is now accepting the Archives Card. Full details can be found online, about registering for the Archives Card.
To apply for an Archives Card, you will need to complete the initial registration process prior to your visit. Facilities are available onsite for visitors who are unable to complete the initial registration proper to visiting. Visitors who wish to use our searchroom, but do not have an Archives card, or cannot provide the required ID will be issued with a temporary ticket. CARN tickets will still be accepted until their expiry date.
Document production
You do not need to order documents in advance - we will be operating a full document production service throughout the day. However, you can order up to three items per person in advance for free. To pre-order your documents please email recordoffice@warwickshire.gov.uk
Please note that document production closes at 3.30pm (Wednesday to Friday) and 11.30 am (Saturday).
Photography permits
If you intend to photograph documents during your visit, you can purchase a photography permit ahead of time by using one of the links below:
- Daily Photography Permit for £8
- Weekly Photography Permit for £15
Searchroom regulations
By booking to visit the record office you are agreeing to abide by our searchroom regulations. A copy of our regulations can be provided at reception.
Car parking
We have a small car park available for visitors, including two accessible parking spaces which can be booked by phone or email.
Postal Services
Unless otherwise stated or advised any postal correspondence will be dealt with using Royal Mail second class post.
