Invasion, treasure, ownership.

This story world adventure enlists the children as a team of archaeologists, commissioned to support archaeologist Maude Cleaver secure the 'treasures' of a wonderful Anglo-Saxon burial site. An opportunity to explore the culture of the Anglo-Saxons using archaeological evidence to prove the value of a site where a supermarket 'giant' wishes to build a store.

This practical workshop covers Anglo-Saxon daily life and work, their craftsmanship and their writing, whilst exposing the children to first world issues related to heritage, the value of history, conservation, and development. The historical concept of cause and consequence runs through this workshop.

The children will use the skill of historical enquiry to present their arguments at a mock planning meeting.
